Search the web, plant trees and save the planet – a simple formula, that makes Ecosia one of the most successful social businesses today. Pieter Van Midwoud is their Chief Tree Planting Officer and tells us all about it. Tune in!
„The search engine that plants trees.“ This is the simple but yet clear definition of what the Berlin-based social business Ecosia does. Founded in 2009 by Christian Kroll, the company donates 80% or more of its profits to nonprofit organizations that focus on reforestation and planting trees where they are needed most.
Responsible for planting those trees is Pieter Van Midwoud – the world’s first and only Chief Tree Planting Officer. With over 120 million trees planted globally as of today, the Dutchman and his purpose-driven tree planting team is passionately working within over 40 projects in countries such as Brazil, Madagascar, Peru, Spain, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Nicaragua and many more in order to make planet earth a more sustainable place to live.
Listen to our wine-induced, authentic and insightful conversation about the true impact the B Lab-certified start-up is creating, why Google is much more powerful than we might think and what Pieter really gets inspired by.
Tune in, have fun and switch to Ecosia!
